Porta Vermelha Artists Community
A group of like-minded people with varying artistic ability, who have found a pleasant friendly group in which to grow their artistic pursuits
Sharryn Jenkinson
The Boss
Sharryn is the founder, owner and resident artist of Porta Vermelha. Her welcoming manner has encouraged the gathering of a diverse group of people of all ages and backgrounds, who share a love of art and painting.
An accomplished and successful artist, specialising in large statement pieces, she is especially known for her dramatic cloudscapes, seascapes and Australia bush settings.
Sharryn shows at local galleries including The Fyansford Paper Mills Gallery, Art 16 Art Gallery at Drysdale and Eagles Nest Gallery at Aireys Inlet.
Julia Larsson
Artist
Julia has always had an affinity for animals and captures their expressive personalities to perfection, in very meticulous well-thought-out paintings. She enjoys her painting as a relaxing escape from the busy life of a veterinarian.
Stuart Willsher
Artist
Stuart trades under the clever Art Handle of "Stu-Art" he has a bright and cheerful personality which translates into his painting style, embracing bold composition, positive shapes and colour mixes. He flirts with a style which could be described as almost naive. Stuart is a stalwart at Porta Vermelha from the early days.
Phillip Butters
Artist
Phillip is the senior member of the group although he has painted on and off during his lifetime, he has only seriously embraced his painting in latter years, largely encouraged by the kinship at Porta Vermelha.
During this time he has developed and grown in a style that has moved from misty monochromatic beach and landscape semi-abstract pieces to really strong colourful works still in abstract. He has had three successful solo exhibitions at the Hive in Ocean Grove and a lengthy exhibition at the popular eating spot, Basils Farm on the shore at Swan Bay. Just recently he has also begun showing at The Fyansford Paper Mills Gallery.
